1/5/09 Good work all of you. This was certainly a challenge for me and I know I still have a lot to learn. So, now it is time for our peer review. Please this week, take a look at all the other assistants' book trailers. You will find them on each of their individual pages (at the bottom). Underneath each is a table where you are to enter at least one comment noting something good about the trailer. The other row is for you to suggest a minor (easy to make) improvement for the trailer. Please be kind and empathetic in all comments.
Finals week, you will need to take time and make changes to your book trailer. The revised book trailer should be posted on your wiki, next to your first draft no later than Jan. 16. Thank you all for such creative work.
12/3/08 Lot's of you have asked about music. Last year we used freeplaymusic. It lets you pick a mood, type of music, etc. and is copyright free. If you know of others please add to this wiki. Thank you and keep on movie making.
11/30/08 Okay, it is time to get moving on this. I have found some pictures and am beginning work on Moviemaker. I hope you all are to that point. If at all possible (meaning you better have a really good excuse not to have this done), I'd like everyone to attach the initial draft of their book trailer to the their working page by Dec. 19. When we get back from break we will edit each others and finalize the product.
11/1/08 Some of you have asked about how this will be graded. My thoughts are you will work on it until your product reaches a level of perfection that you, your library assistant peers and myself all agree is good enough to post for the world to see. But some of you will need guidance as to just how good that has to be. So how about a rubric? I have just started thinking about this and I hope you will as well. Feel free to add to the rubric. If you feel something should be deleted, put that in the comments with your initials.
10/15/08 Just for fun try your words for the book talk in wordle. Upload your wordle image to your working page (this is a bit tricky, please when you figure it out write instructions for others on this page). Feel free to check out my wordle on my page (I know I am behind on my pictures and I won't catch up with you until Halloween).
10/7/08 The next step is to start locating pictures. We need to be careful and use "free image sources". I am going to list some sites below to try. If you come across others please add. Make note with each image that you save, the source information for it (at least the URL and author if available). I'll upload a couple to my page for example sake.
9/24/08 Now that you have listened to a few, find out how she does it. Read Ms. Bate's blog entry and then click on your name below. Once on your page, outline the steps she uses to produce her digital book trailers. Also, please list the citation information for the book you will be using for your book trailer.
9/15/08 This semester, as our final, we will complete a video book talk. I 'd like you to take a look (and listen) at a book trailer created by Naomi Bates, at Northwest High School in Justin Texas. You will need sound, so please have one of us login to the computers in one of the textbook rooms, so that you can listen as well as look. After listening to one, you might want to listen to others, if so visit Ms. Bates' website and enjoy.Next week we will ask you to select a book from this library to do a video book talk on as your semester project.
