Biographical Resources

- Biographies, book reviews, and criticism.
- Search by author or use Advanced Search to Boolean search for author and book title.
- Remember to click across the tabs (Biographies, Brief Biographies, Magazines, Websites) for all results.
- This year you may prefer to rely on Gale PowerSearch (with the Academic and General OneFile) for everything but the Biographies in Biography Resource Center. The Biography Resource Center does not provide MLA 7th edition citations (the other GALE databases do).
Literary Resources

- Make sure to select the two trial databases (on loan from the universities) General OneFile and Academic OneFile.

- Phrase search author's name - "Malcolm Gladwell"
- When viewing results, locate subject term for author (on left sidebar of search results) for more precise search.
- If fulltext not available, let the library staff help. Email citation and request for the full article to kpowell@gmail.com, if time permits (retrieval of full text from outside resources takes time).

- Search with author's fullname. Phrase searching works well.
- When viewing results, notice subjects on the left sidebar and use the author's subject term for more precise results.
- All results are full-text. Great for reviews.
- Remember when emailing citations and fulltext in EBSCO to specify MLA format.
Public Library Resources
- Gale Literature Resource Center - Provides full-text literary criticism, reviews and author biographies across all genres and time periods.
- World Who's Who - Outlines current information about the lives and achievements of over 22,000 distinguished individuals from around the globe. Formerly known as International Who's Who.
- Must have San Diego City Public Library card to access (barcode begins with 01336).
- Gale Literature Resource Center - Provides full-text literary criticism, reviews and author biographies across all genres and time periods.
- Must have San Diego County Public Library card and pin # to access (barcode begins with 01535)
