Books:

While you are in the library we will have pulled a group of books for you.  The list of those books can be found on the catalog under Resource Lists, 1920s. Search the library catalog  by keyword for topics like racism, immigration, women. Then use the book index or table of contents to determine if the 1920s are covered in the book.

 

 

Databases:

  • Our three history databases are provided by Proquest.
    •  Login using the username and password on the back of your ID card. 
    • Remember to click on the orange bar 'My Products Page' to access our databases.

 

This database is international in scope.  Search by topic and add America or United States

Browse the Study Units.

Click on "Cite this for citation information (you will need to edit this).               

Click on the 1920s across the top of the database.Look for your topic on the left side bar.

Or, search from the  Decades home page by keyword and limit to the Decade, 1920s.  When you locate a document, click on Source for the information you will need to create a citation. Need more help, click here to watch a brief How-to video.

Click on the Topics or Timeline tab them select the Roaring '20s.  Locate your topic in the subtopics. 

Or click on the Search tab and enter keywords and limit to the Decade, 1920s.  This search usually results in many articles unless your search is very specific or looking for one particular type of article e.g. editorial cartioon. Click on citation/abstract for the information needed to create your MLA citation.

 

 

  • You might consider using World Book Online for its excellent primary sources. Login using the username and password on the back of your ID card.
  • Gale databases allows you to do a PowerSearch across multiple databases at once. Narrow down your results by looking at the Subject headings or doing an Advanced Search with boolean logic (and,or, not). Login using the username and password on the back of your ID card.
  • Discovery Education - Videos, images, clipart, sound effects for presentations.Username: phs.lrc Password: phs.lrc

 

Internet Resources:

Webpath Express  will lead you to evaluated websites. It is a part of the library catalog and can be accessed along with the books or separately.  Type in your keywords.  Your results will include an abstract and link.
